When I run a Combo Cleaner scan on my iMac I get the following message: “suspicious system configuration – hijacked internet browsers” It then asks me to remove the threat, which I do, and then to restart to complete removal. Once I’ve restarted I re-scan my system and get the same threat appearing again!
I’m not aware of any particular issues on my iMac. My browser isn’t being redirected, I’m not getting ads and pop-ups etc.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can find out what this threat is, if indeed it’s a real one, and how I can remove it permanently please?
I’m about to start using a new iMac and don’t want to start transferring everything over to the new machine as I’m concerned that this threat might also get transferred in the process.

The alert “suspicious system configuration – hijacked internet browsers” means that there is still browser hijacker on the computer. Please follow this guide to get rid of the threat.
Self Help Guide
For easy and free removal of Adware, we suggest that you carry out the following instructions. We will use only free and effective malware removal tools on this procedure.
1. Download Malwarebytes Anti-malware for Mac from this link:
Click here to download MBAM for Mac (this will open a new window)
2. Run Malwarebytes Anti-malware for Mac. It will check for updates and download if most recent version is available. This is necessary in finding recent malware threats including Adware.
3. If it prompts to close all running web browser, please do so. Thus, we advise you to PRINT this guide for your reference before going offline.
4. Once it opens the user interface, please click on Scan button to start scanning your Mac computer.
5. After the scan, Malwarebytes Anti-malware for Mac will display a list of identified threats, Adware is surely part of it. Be sure to select all items in the list. Then, click Remove button to clean the computer.
6. You may now restart the computer.
After restarting the computer, you may run additional virus scanner if anti-virus is installed.
