I just have upgraded to Microsoft Edge few days ago. After browsing several web sites and downloading some tools, I concur that the browser is affected by some kind of virus. Edge browser is now locked with a message about “Computer virus warning. Identity theft and hacking possibilities. Contact emergency virus support now. 1-855-495-4100.”
Searching the Internet leads me to various scam tech support website. I found them very similar to this virus because its either they want me to pay or purchase a removal tool first.
Noticing that this is a fraud online support, I called the number just to check who is on the other side. A guy with Indian accent answered the call and asked me to download some program so that they can access my PC remotely. I didn’t agree and immediately end the conversation.
Obviously, you know why I am posting in this forum. I wanted to remove this fake computer virus warning that promotes scam tech support. Please guide me to removal procedures as well as programs needed to clean the computer.
Thanks,
Bruce
