I bought a second hand HP laptop. The seller stated on his ad that it is functioning well without any problems. He also said that it hasn’t been repaired or opened. All parts are in genuine condition. I did check the laptop before paying for it and find no problem. It was working fine.

But when I brought it at home and plugged the charger, I noticed that after several minutes, the battery drained very fast. It seems it is not charging. I did buy a brand new battery but charging problem still persists.

Any suggestions to fix this problem? By the way the laptop is HP Pavilion G7. Battery is a generic one from a computer shop.

Since your battery is generic, there is a tendency that it didn’t actually fit the battery bay. Check if all the connectors match the exact location of the genuine battery. You may also want to see if it is actually locks on the place. I mean there should be no loose feeling once installed.

How about the power supply, have you checked that it is supplying enough power? Not just because it is dead, it doesn’t mean that it fully works. Some power supply even lit and you can only confirm that it is defective when output power is measured.

You need to scan your laptop with a powerful tool and try to remove the available threats permanently. No need to worry, you can follow the instructions which are given in the page below.
