    Hello Guys,

    My computer is experiencing excessive pop-up advertisements and sudden browser redirects. As I can notice, most of the ads and website I was redirected to are in Chinese language. Upon looking at the running process, one thing that caught my attention was QQPCTRAY.EXE. It belongs to something like Tencents program or something as per my research.

    Bad thing is I cannot delete or end the QQPCTRAY process. It always state that program is running and cannot be ended. Running a full scan of anti-virus program also didn’t help. It found a couple of malware and was able to delete them but still QQPCTRAY remains on the computer. It seems that this virus is defeating the antivirus software.

    Are there any way to get rid of this QQPCTRAY virus from my PC? What are the tools needed to download in order to solve my problem and totally eliminate the threat?

    Best regards.

    Self Help Guide

    For easy and free removal of QQPCTRAY, we suggest that you carry out the following instructions. We will use only free and effective malware removal tools on this procedure.

    1. Download the following QQPCTRAY removal tools

    Click to download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
    Click to download Adware Cleaner

    Once downloaded, install the programs using default configuration. No need to change on the current settings. Updating may be necessary after the installation.

    2. Reboot computer in safe mode

    Rebooting the computer in Windows Safe Mode reduces the effectiveness of QQPCTRAY and other malware. Most malware and virus do not function fully while in Safe Mode. You may also scan the PC on normal boot-up; hence, we may not guarantee the efficiency of virus removal.

    3. Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware

    – Open Malwarebytes Anti-malware
    – On the main window, click on Scan tab
    – Make sure that Threat Scan (Recommended) is selected
    – Click on Start Scan button to start finding QQPCTRAY and other malicious programs
    – After the scan, select all identified threats and click on Remove Selected button
    – If it prompts you that computer needs to be restarted, please select No
    – Close Malwarebytes Anti-malware program

    4. Run another scan using AdwCleaner

    – Open AdwCleaner.
    – Once opened, click on Scan button to search for malicious applications including QQPCTRAY.
    – To remove QQPCTRAY including all detected adware and malware, click on the Clean button.
    – AdwCleaner will prompt you to close any running application as it will need to restart the computer.
    – Click OK to restart the computer.

    After restarting the computer, you may run additional virus scanner if anti-virus is installed.

    OK so I had the same problem and found an easy solution. Also this is a virus\program that when installed disables your anti-virus. You will need to do the following steps:

    1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86) or (x64) or (x36);
    2. Scroll down until you see a folder name Tencent;
    3. Open the folder;
    4. Scroll down until you can see trash bin icon that will be the uninstall button
    5. Click it ^;
    6. Here a window will pop up and you will need to click the left button (all in Chinese btw.);
    7. Here it will ask you again if you want to delete it and you will click the left button again;
    8. Then again and you will click the left button;

    That should be it, but you will not be able to delete the folder until a reboot. Hope this helps…
